Questions about Acropolis Health?
Start here.
Our approach is simple, but it is different from the healthcare model many patients are used to. Here are answers to common questions about membership, insurance, access, pricing, and how care works at Acropolis Health.
Direct Primary Care
A simpler, more personal way to experience primary care. Understand how Acropolis Health differs from traditional insurance-based care and concierge medicine.
-
Direct Primary Care, or DPC, is a membership-based model of primary care that allows patients to work directly with their physician without insurance companies managing the primary care relationship.
At Acropolis Health, this means more time with your doctor, easier access when questions come up, transparent pricing, and a deeper relationship with a physician who knows you and your health history.
Instead of rushing through short visits or making decisions based on insurance requirements, we are able to focus on what matters most: thoughtful, personalized care for you and your family.
-
Acropolis Health does not bill insurance for primary care services.
Your membership fee covers the primary care services included in your membership. If you have health insurance, you can still use it for services outside of Acropolis Health, such as specialist visits, hospital care, imaging, labs, prescriptions, vaccines, or other services not included in your membership.
We recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand what outside services may be covered.
-
Yes. Direct Primary Care is not a replacement for health insurance.
We recommend that patients maintain insurance or another form of coverage for emergencies, hospitalizations, surgeries, specialist care, imaging, and other services outside the scope of primary care.
Think of Acropolis Health as your primary care home, not your insurance plan.
-
Many patients join because they want a different kind of healthcare experience.
Membership allows for more time with your physician, improved access, direct communication, preventive care planning, and a relationship that is not shaped by insurance-driven visit schedules or billing requirements.
For patients who feel rushed, unheard, or frustrated by the traditional healthcare system, Direct Primary Care offers a more personal and proactive approach.
-
Direct Primary Care and concierge medicine can look similar, but they are not always the same.
Many concierge practices charge a membership fee and may still bill insurance for visits and services. Acropolis Health does not bill insurance for primary care services.
Our model is designed to keep primary care transparent, relationship-based, and focused on direct access between patient and physician.
-
No. Direct Primary Care can be a good fit for people with many different insurance situations.
Some members have traditional insurance, high-deductible plans, health sharing plans, Medicare, or other coverage. Others may be uninsured. The common reason patients join is that they want more personal, accessible, and transparent primary care.
-
Acropolis Health is a great fit for patients who value a relationship with their physician, want more time during visits, appreciate transparent pricing, and are interested in proactive, whole-person care.
It may not be the right fit for someone looking for a traditional insurance-billed office, walk-in urgent care only, or a one-time quick fix without an ongoing care relationship.

Some services outside the scope of membership may have an additional cost. This can include outside labs, imaging, prescriptions, vaccines, specialist visits, hospital care, and other third-party services.
When possible, Acropolis Health helps patients understand their options and access transparent pricing.
-
Membership fees are paid directly to Acropolis Health. Payment options may vary depending on your selected membership level.
Because membership is designed around an ongoing physician-patient relationship, Acropolis Health may require a minimum commitment. Please review the current membership agreement for details.
-
Essential is the foundational Direct Primary Care membership. It is designed for patients and families who want consistent primary care, improved access, preventive guidance, and a more personal relationship with their physician.
Optimize is a more comprehensive option for patients who want a deeper look at their health, risk factors, wellness goals, and long-term planning.
Transform is the most intensive membership option and is designed for patients who want a more structured, whole-health approach with additional support, tracking, and guidance over time.
If you are unsure which option is the right fit, we are happy to help guide you.
-
HSA and FSA rules can vary, and regulations around Direct Primary Care memberships may change. We recommend checking with your HSA/FSA administrator or tax advisor to confirm whether your membership fee or related medical expenses are eligible.
Care & Access
A closer look at the types of care, support, and guidance available through Acropolis Health; including more time, easier communication, and support when health questions come up.
-
One of the benefits of Direct Primary Care is improved access. Because Acropolis Health keeps its patient panel intentionally smaller, we are able to offer more timely care than many traditional primary care settings.
When appropriate, same-day or next-day appointments may be available.
-
Appointments at Acropolis Health are intentionally unhurried.
Instead of squeezing complex concerns into a short visit, we take time to listen, ask questions, review your history, and create a thoughtful plan. The goal is for you to feel heard, informed, and supported.
-
Yes. Direct communication is an important part of the Acropolis Health membership experience.
Members have access to their care team for questions, follow-up, and concerns that come up between visits. This helps reduce unnecessary delays and allows us to support you more consistently.
-
If you are experiencing a true emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
If your concern is urgent but not life-threatening, contact Acropolis Health first. In many cases, we may be able to advise you, see you quickly, or help determine the most appropriate next step.
-
If you need specialty care, Acropolis Health can help coordinate the referral and stay involved in your care.
We are not limited to one hospital system or network. Our role is to help you understand your options, communicate with outside providers when appropriate, and make sure your care stays connected.
-
If you are hospitalized or receive emergency care, Acropolis Health can help with follow-up care, record review, medication questions, and next steps after discharge.
We believe primary care should help connect the dots, especially after a major health event.
-
In many cases, yes.
If you are traveling and have a question, sudden illness, medication issue, or follow-up concern, you may be able to contact Acropolis Health for guidance. Depending on the situation, we may recommend a virtual visit, send a prescription when appropriate, or advise you to seek local in-person care.
For emergencies, you should always seek immediate local care.
-
Yes. Direct Primary Care is well suited for chronic condition management because it allows for more time, better follow-up, and a more complete understanding of your health.
We can support patients managing conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid concerns, cholesterol, asthma, and other ongoing health needs.
-
Yes, when medically appropriate.
Your physician can prescribe medications as part of your care. Prescription costs are not included in membership, but we can help discuss options and consider affordability when possible.
-
In some cases, yes.
Management of mental health medications depends on the patient’s history, diagnosis, current treatment plan, medication type, and level of support needed. Some situations may require coordination with a psychiatrist, therapist, or other specialist.
-
Controlled substances are evaluated carefully and on a case-by-case basis.
Acropolis Health follows appropriate medical guidelines and legal requirements when considering whether controlled medications are appropriate.
-
Acropolis Health takes a whole-person approach to care, which means we consider lifestyle, prevention, nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and long-term wellness as part of your health.
However, Direct Primary Care is not the same as functional medicine. If you are looking for extensive specialty testing, supplement protocols, or highly specific functional medicine programs, we recommend discussing your goals with the office to determine whether Acropolis Health is the right fit.
-
Yes, Acropolis Health offers osteopathic manipulative treatment, also known as OMT, when appropriate.
OMT may be used to support certain musculoskeletal concerns and is one of the ways our osteopathic physicians bring a hands-on, whole-person perspective to care.
Family Care
Whole-person care for individuals and families through every age and stage.
-
Yes. Acropolis Health provides care for patients across different ages and stages of life.
Our family-centered approach allows us to care for children, teens, adults, and families with a broader understanding of health history, lifestyle, prevention, and long-term wellness.
-
When one practice cares for multiple members of a family, we are often able to understand the bigger picture more clearly.
Family history, shared lifestyle factors, stressors, routines, and health patterns can all play a role in care. This helps us provide more personalized, connected, and proactive guidance.
-
Acropolis Health may accept children as part of family membership. Availability, age requirements, and membership details may vary, so we recommend contacting the office directly to discuss your family’s needs.
-
Acropolis Health supports evidence-based preventive care and encourages patients and families to discuss vaccine questions directly with their physician.
We understand that parents and patients may have questions, and we believe those conversations deserve time, respect, and clear medical guidance.
Your First Visit
What to expect as we get to know your health history, goals, and care needs.
-
Your first visit is an opportunity for us to get to know you.
We will review your health history, current concerns, medications, lifestyle, family history, goals, and any questions you may have. Depending on your needs, we may discuss labs, preventive screenings, chronic conditions, or next steps for your care plan.
The goal is to begin building a relationship, not just complete a checklist.
-
Yes, previous medical records can be very helpful.
Acropolis Health can guide you through the process of requesting records from your previous providers. Having access to your history helps us better understand your care, medications, diagnoses, testing, and past treatment plans.
-
If you have specific questions before joining, you may contact Acropolis Health to learn more about membership and determine whether the practice is a good fit.
Because membership is relationship-based and enrollment is limited, the application process helps ensure that expectations are clear on both sides.
